FAQ – Newborn Sessions

When is the best time to book a newborn session?

It’s best to book during your pregnancy, ideally in your second or early third trimester. I’ll pencil in your due date and adjust as needed once baby arrives. This guarantees flexibility around those early weeks.

How old should baby be for their session?

I recommend photographing newborns between 7–14 days old — they’re usually sleepier and more settled during this window, which allows for those beautiful, curled-up poses. That said, I’m happy to work with older newborns too — every baby is different!

Where do sessions take place?

All newborn sessions are held in my home studio in Adelaide, which is designed to be warm, quiet, and completely baby-friendly. Everything you need is here, so you can just arrive and relax.

Do you provide props and wraps?

Yes! I have a carefully curated collection of neutral-toned wraps, headbands, blankets, and baskets that suit my timeless, natural style. You’re also welcome to bring sentimental items if you’d like.

Can siblings and parents be in the photos too?

Absolutely. These images are as much about your family’s connection as they are about baby. I always encourage parents and siblings to be involved — those moments are often the most treasured.

Is my baby’s safety a priority during the session?

Yes, 100%. I’ve completed a St John’s Caring for Children course and ongoing newborn safety training, including workshops with neonatal health professionals. I’m also up to date on immunisations and have public liability insurance.

FAQ – Maternity Sessions

When should I book my maternity session?

The ideal time is around 32–36 weeks, when your belly is beautifully round but you’re still feeling relatively comfortable. Booking earlier ensures we have time to plan and lock in your preferred date.

Where will my session take place?

Maternity sessions can be held outdoors at golden hour for a dreamy, natural vibe, or in my studio for a more intimate, styled look. I’m happy to help you choose a location that suits your vision.

What should I wear?

I recommend wearing something that makes you feel beautiful and comfortable — soft, flowing fabrics work wonderfully. I also offer styling guidance and have a few wardrobe options available if you need help pulling it together.

Can my partner and children be involved?

Absolutely. Maternity sessions are a celebration of your growing family, and I love including partners and siblings to capture that excitement and connection.

Can we combine maternity and newborn packages?

Yes! I offer bundle options for clients who book both maternity and newborn sessions with me. Just let me know when you enquire, and I can send you the details.

FAQ – Family Sessions

What should we wear?

Neutral tones, soft patterns, and comfortable clothes photograph beautifully. Coordinating outfits without being too “matchy” works best. I can help you plan what to wear so you feel confident and comfortable.

Where do family sessions happen?

Family sessions are usually held outdoors, in one of my favourite natural locations around Adelaide. Think fields, beach, or leafy reserves — anywhere with beautiful light and space to move. In-home sessions are available by request too.

How long does a session go for?

Family sessions typically run for about 45–60 minutes — long enough to get everything we need, but relaxed enough to keep it enjoyable (especially for little ones!).

What if my kids don’t cooperate?

Please don’t worry — I’ve worked with children of all ages and temperaments, and I take a calm, playful approach. Some of the best moments happen when kids are just being themselves.

Can we include extended family members?

Yes, but let’s chat beforehand so I can tailor the session to suit your group size. There may be a small additional fee depending on the number of people attending.
